Ashwagandha
Withania Somnifera (Solanaceae)

Ashwagandha has been called “Indian ginseng” because it is used in Ayurveda in much the same way that ginseng in used in Chinese medicine: to improve vitality and to aid recovery after chronic illness. Ashwagandha is a nervine and adrenal tonic that helps anxiety, depression and exhaustion. It is adaptogen and reduces the effects of stress while promoting energy and vitality. It is used as a supporting herb for recovery from debilitating diseases. It is also an effective anti-inflammatory that can relive symptoms associated with arthritis pain. Ashwagandha helps boost the conversion of T4 (the thyroid storage hormone) to T3 (the active thyroid hormone)
