Horehound
Marrubium vulgare
Horehound has traditionally been used to make cough drops or cough syrup. Horehound drops can still be found in some stores. The gentle laxative and digestive bitter effects are also helpful for treating the common cold, which is a condition of congestion and bodily stasis. It increases the secretion of thinner mucus to break up congestion. It is a great remedy for coughing, wheezing and difficulty breathing. Horehound soothes the upper respiratory tract, suppresses coughing and promotes expectoration. It stimulates digestion and has a mild cardiac effect
